And We’re On Our Way!!

Our flights were uneventful. We flew through Iceland on Icelandair. Not very impressed with the airline. The seats are not comfortable and they did not offer food. But we picked up a snack at the Keflavik airport and now I can add another country to the list of places I have “seen”.

Once we arrived in Paris we got an Uber to our hostel. Found a cafe and started to relax. In the evening we made a picnic supper, enjoyed some wine, then walked to the Eiffel Tower. Now I feel like I’m in France.

When we woke up this morning we found out that yes, indeed our train for Friday has been cancelled due to the strike (we found out a few weeks ago this was a possibility. Being in a union I do understand but of course would prefer if it doesn’t affect me. Oh well. Off to the train station and we got a change of ticket for today. Very helpful staff. I hope they settle favourably.

When we got on the train we didn’t actually get seats (guaranteed train, not guaranteed seats due to changing our ticket). So they sent us to the bar car. We were okay with that.

Then a quick snack in Bayonne and onto a bus for St Jean Pied de Port (that train is not running right now for reasons other than labour disputes).

Oh, and while we waited for our substitute train, I booked us a lovely hotel in St Jean. Once we settled in we checked out the town a bit - it is so interesting. We will spend plenty of time exploring tomorrow. We are thrilled that we arrived a day early and now that we are here, we are happy about that train strike. Hope they settle soon though😀
