Day 4 - Zubiri to Pamplona - 21 km

We had a nice breakfast this morning (included), then went on our way. The first half of the walk was through a forest and was beautiful. Everything so fresh and green. It is springtime in Spain, unlike Alberta.

We did have to walk by a Magnesium Plant, a bit less scenic, but that’s okay. The lush cool path through the forest made up for it. A bit hilly in places but less drastic than the last few days.

We had a bit of a miscommunication when it came to our group plan for the day. We were going to meet up for a break at a cafe at Irotz, but when we got there - no cafe. We were misinformed. Oh well. We pressed on. Met up with 5 out of 6 of our group just outside Pamplona at Arres, then walked the rest of the way together.

The place we were hoping to stay was full. But we were escorted to a different Albergue by a nice fellow - so we ended up at Plaza Catedral Albergue. And Charmaine found us without too much trouble.

After our usual shower and laundry (this place also has a laundry service, which is nice when you can share), three of us went for a walkabout. The Citadel area of Pamplona is very historic. But we were hungry, so food was high on our list. We found a nice place for pizza, beer and gelato. Very good! Then we decided to cook dinner in the Albergue, as there is a communal kitchen. Dinner for 4 was about 20 Euro including wine (of course). And leftovers, which our new friend Andreas helped us with.

Another short walk after dinner and it’s time for bed.

Pamplona

Lesson for the day: have a backup plan to meet at the end of the day.

Albergue 15 Euro

Pizza and beer and gelato 5 E

Groceries for dinner plus snacks 8 E
