Post Camino R & R in Porto
What do you do after the Camino? You could head home right away, you could keep walking to Finisterre or somewhere else (some people even turn around and start walking back towards the start or their home). Some people decide to go somewhere else. That was our plan.
We had booked a VRBO property in Porto, Portugal for a week. My husband Greg met us there. This included Rachel and Charmaine, so there were four of us. We had a lovely big apartment in a quiet part of Porto with good access to the Metro. It was a bit strange to stay in one place for a week and sleep in the same bed for more than one night, but we managed.

Of course any weight I lost while walking the Camino (probably negligible) was easily regained as we sampled the wonderful cuisine and port of the region. Especially the port! We did walk a fair bit (my perspective is now different - everywhere is walking distance). But we also travelled by Metro, tour bus, Uber, gondola, and funicular.

Porto is a beautiful city, lots to do and see. Some of the highlights:
Wonderful old buildings adorned with colourful ceramic tiles.
A cruise on the river Douro to see the six bridges.
Walking to the beach and the Matosinhos area with amazing seafood restaurants.
Port wine tours and tastings.
Livraria Lello, wonderful old bookstore linked to Harry Potter.
Tea and dessert at the historic Majestic Cafe.
And much more.

We also saw parts on the Portuguese Camino. I will need to research this a bit as I can see doing that in the future (not for a while though).

At the end of the week I am now headed to Prague for a conference for my home business. That will be very exciting and intense! And different as I am now traveling on my own.

And in a week I will be home!
